work scientifically, distinguishing between categories of knowledge such as theory, empirical knowledge, taxonomies of (cultural)
behaviour, culture as patterns of thinking, and interpretation. Consistent with the limitations of this branch of science, and if required,
the candidate may demonstrate some reflective, critical attitude to the interpretive process. The candidate maintains a consistent
focus on the intellectual demands set by the examiners and an awareness of the reader's needs and expectations. Arguments are
organised charly, and expressed logically and persuasively.
ESSAY: A good introduction and outline of strategy - discusses 4 dimensions 1.Achievement/ascription - good definition, picks up the
fact that both men show both excellent case evidence as good as it gets. 2. Uncertainty avoidance not top flight dimension; good
definition though I miss the word risk; evidence good though some of it not specifically linked to the dimension 3. hierarchy
formal/informal communication dimension ok; definition and evidence 4. Gender Egalitarianism - interesting one of the very few to
present this dimension even though prominent - and provides the relevant reason for it being discussed- Schneider's parental leave. 4
dimensions presented; 3 opinion ones and 2 excellent hits i.e. showing that both have both ascription and achievement traits and unusually nailing the GE dimension.

Read the following description of a business meeting. It is taking place in an office at the headquarters of the German engineering company, Voscher, in Berlin. The two participants are Otto Mayer (63), the Director General of Personnel and Administration, and his subordinate, the Head of Career Development, Gunther Fischer (46). Both men are German nationals. While Fischer has spent all his life in Germany, Otto Mayer spent his childhood in Japan, studied at Stanford University (USA), took a PhD in London and worked for the World Bank in Geneva, before returning to Germany and joining Voscher. Fischer’s primary responsibility is to oversee the career development of key staff in order to secure a smooth supply of potential senior managers. At this meeting, the two men are discussing applications which have been made by two candidates, for an international senior management posting.

You are to prepare a short business report for the board members of Warm Hearts – Warm Clothes. You have already given the board a verbal account of what you have discovered in eastern Europe, so there is no need to include the facts of the case in the report. It should, instead, include the following:
1. On the assumption that public knowledge leads to an outcome of dramatic loss of trust among certain stakeholders, prepare a comprehensive consequentialist analysis of this future scenario. Make sure that you consider all stakeholders that might be affected.
2. The board could try to keep this information confidential over the coming year, while you sort out the problem. Provide a short discussion of the arguments for and against doing this. If you think that this discussion points clearly to a particular course of action, you may also make a recommendation to the board. However, this is not obligatory.
When setting up the short business report, use the name Inge Gustavsen or Inger Gustavsen instead of your own name.
