The movie “The Wolf of Wall Street” (2013) is based on the memoirs of Jordan Belfort, a former stockbroker in New York City who was convicted for extensive corruption and fraud. Although being criticized by many for glorifying immoral behavior and excessive profanity, the film was nominated for numerous awards as well as listed on many critics’ top ten lists, and Leonardo DiCaprio won a Golden Globe Award for his performance as Belford. (The film is easily available via a number of streaming services, including Netflix, HBO, and Viaplay.)

Assignment:

Analyze the behavior of the main character – as depicted in the film – from a power and persuasion perspective, using the curriculum in this course as the theoretical framework. The analysis should focus Belfort’s rise to power and success, as well as his subsequent fall.
The paper should be analytical and scholarly (rather than normative) and written in an academic format with references throughout the text and a corresponding list of references.
